New limits from Amazon by Search Terms. How to put all the keywords to 250 characters.
On August 24, 2017, new limits from Amazon appeared, which relate to the number of characters in the search terms section. The purpose of these updates is to improve the search results on the trading floor.
So, the limitations and recommendations are as follows:
- character limit (200 for India, 500 for Japan and 250 for other countries)
- this is the total number of characters for all 5 keyword fields (“Search Terms” fields in the “Keywords” section»)
- any excess is not allowed
- one symbol equals one letter of the Latin alphabet, other symbols such as £ € – count as two or more symbols
- spaces and punctuation marks do not affect the length. Words should be separated by spaces, punctuation between words is not necessary.
Keyword optimization to improve search:
- do not include words that do not describe the product
- do not include your company name
- do not duplicate the content that is in the title (title) and shootouts (Key Product Features)
- do not repeat words
- use synonyms, as well as different variations of the name of your product
These changes apply to both new and existing listings (ASIN)
That is, we can not use as before 5000 characters, now we have only 250 characters (about 40 words). Accordingly, the selection of keywords should be approached even more carefully.
